For Headley VanMeter, Thoroughbred sales isn’t just a business—it’s a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where success comes from hard work, industry expertise, and strong relationships.
Raised in a multi-generational Thoroughbred family, Headley spent his early years working on his family's Stockplace Farm, birthplace of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. But his path to becoming a consignor wasn’t just about family history—it was about gaining real-world experience and building a reputation for hustle and integrity.
After earning a business degree from Birmingham Southern College, Headley returned to the industry, working with his brother, trainer William VanMeter, before joining Lane’s End, one of the world’s premier Thoroughbred farms. There, he rotated through the sales, broodmare, and stallion divisions, playing a key role in the development of young stock. He worked with champions like Flightline, Elite Power, and Fierceness, as well as seven-figure sales horses, including the $3-million Keeneland September sale-topping Into Mischief colt in 2023. Rising to broodmare manager at Lane's End, he further honed his expertise in raising and presenting top-class Thoroughbreds.
In 2024, Headley launched VanMeter Sales, blending traditional industry expertise with a fresh, high-energy approach to boutique consignments. With a hands-on commitment to every horse, strong buyer and seller relationships, and an unwavering dedication to transparency and trust, he will ensure clients get the best possible sales experience and results.

Giving clients the knowledge and confidence to get their horses moved to top racing programs and into the winner’s circle is a top priority for me. Being fully transparent about our equine stock allows buyers and their agents to work through our consignment quickly and efficiently.
