Headley VanMeter’s VanMeter Sales well and truly signaled its intentions in the consignment game when the very first horse through the ring from its debut Keeneland September consignment fetched $1.5-million during the 2025 auction’s Book 1 opener on Monday.
Hip 10 was likewise the first progeny of the undefeated world champion Flightline to go through the ring at Keeneland. He is out of the speedy Lady Shipman (Midshipman), and therefore a half-brother to the dual Breeders’ Cup and Grade 1 winner Golden Pal (Uncle Mo). Already named Stock Rising by his breeder Randy Lowe, Hip 10 was purchased by John Stewart’s Resolute Bloodstock.
“It’s incredible, storybook,” VanMeter told Thoroughbred Daily News. “We had high expectations coming in here, but we didn’t think he was going to do that. The colt was an absolute pro up here for the last four or five days. We are elated to get the sale started off this way.”
Stock Rising was not only offered by VanMeter Sales, but born and raised on the VanMeter family’s Stockplace Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.VanMeter Sales is a boutique Thoroughbred consignment built on trust, transparency and tireless effort to deliver the best results.
